Tiny Dreams Briony Carvalho
She lies on her bed with her dreams resting at her feet
Picking them up one by one, shaking them, watching the snow settle
She places one on the bedside table
The lamp light shatters into a hundred pieces, dances round the ceiling
The snow settles and the tiny dream looks peaceful
The next day she looks at the beautiful scene in the globe
Dirty footprints stomped all over the white gleaming snow
A wolf hiding in the shadows
The water is running from the globe, trickling onto the floor
The tiny heart in the centre shrunken a little bit more
She bends down and picks up a smaller glistening globe
Dropping the tiny heart into it and watching it swirl up the snow
She places it in the palm of her hand
Brushing the shattered dream into the drawer and locking it
Wiping the water from the table she places the tiny globe onto the space
And looks out into the night
