Tree Tamsin Butler
The wind whispers through the trees and knocks the leaves gently to the floor.
I love this time of the year, when everything is new and fresh.
The sun shines down onto the rich green grass and warms my skin.
I feel the blood pulsing through my veins and know that i'm alive.
The sky is blue and speckled with white clouds but in my head the dark clouds build.
The silent salty tears begin to trickle down my cheeks and splash onto the ground.
I try to breathe but the tears are flowing too quickly now.
Birds fly over head but in my world they don't make a sound.
Silently they lower the box into the hole in the ground.
Mother nature is taking back it's most precious gift.. a life!
You were too young to die, you were my age now.
Why did you have to go? and leave me here alone?
I feel angry at everything around, with so much beauty, how can i be sad?
But now i notice the dark clouds and the dry patches of grass.
The dying plants that would bloom with a loving touch.
Nature is a cruel mistress and to her whim we must obey.
But still i question why you?
