Sail out in your rusty ship

Taunted by the waves’ promise of safer waters

Her cruel attempts of trickery

Try to keep you docked at the shore line.

Hoist up the anchor and take one more deep breath… and know…

You’re not coming home.

Bravery is only the lost art of selflessness

We all exist in life’s little moments

The moment exists… live and breathe

We do not exist.

The wind is blowing in her ever changing directions

Adrift we wonder the vast ocean searching for a new face

Our patience is not rewarded. Our request is not made.

The breast of her body is calling

And yet we still have not a place to lay our heads.

Vast is our description

And the term does not tread lightly

Around our necks hangs our love

Like hearts carved out in the tree back home

Drop the anchor and with it the false hopes of safer waters.

The sea is now our own.

In every direction there is a sigh fading

The sound of knowing we’re truly alone

Dying is our description

And the term does not tread lightly.

Just like the hole in the boat…

Our hearts will never mend.

"Valiant attempt but the result is a somewhat rambling, disconnected effort with many holes like the one in the boat. In the third stanza, I think you meant "wander" the vast ocean......." -- Grammar Detective.
"KM, beginning to believe you do not exist. Where'd you go? Miss your poetry." -- D. Wells, VA, USA.
