What’S Wrong With Assimilation?

As the Senate begins its debate on the immigration reform bill, we can witness these hypocrites posturing for position, trying to appear worthy of the votes of their constituents, yet seeking compromise that will actually satisfy nobody.
Polling data shows that most people in this country would prefer to see the present laws enforced and illegal aliens deported and forced to start all over to enter this country legally. We know that won’t happen, not because it’s impossible to enforce, but because the Democrats want to secure the Latino vote for future elections and shut out the Republicans from ever regaining control of Congress or the White House. Many Republican Senators and Representatives are too afraid of their own political futures to speak out even though passage of this bill would all but eliminate the two-party system.
The bleeding hearts and religious leaders with their “sanctuaries” to shelter these law-breakers have the tacit approval of the general media and nearly all the Democrats in Congress. Liberals have made diversity a sacred word in our society while the majority of us who want cultural assimilation and a predominantly English speaking educational curriculum are castigated as racists and bigots. It is futile to enumerate the self-aggrandizing motives, with their political and social engineering implications, of those who distort and exploit the concept of diversity while opposing assimilation.
Every citizen born here or naturalized is now confronted with an uphill battle against those who seek to change our English speaking, American culture into their dream of a multi-cultural, dysfunctional socialist state where the majority of taxpayers born in this country may someday have virtually no control over the basic educational curriculum of their children and their children’s children.
In 1907, President Theodore Roosevelt expressed his ideas about immigration as well as anyone and most Americans feel those ideas he expressed are even more applicable today, than they were a century ago. “ In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.…But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…..There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag….. We have room for but one language…and that is the English language….and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
