Whispers On The Wind. Hopes Quest
Jessi

Sweat fell from Firii’s brow, the sun was burning through her, melting all that its rays touched. She glanced around at the others, Faro, Tal, Shira and Kit. They looked back at her, trust in their eyes. False hope. They wouldn’t make it, and it was all her fault. Riding through the desert was her idea. Not taking a guide was her idea. She had doomed them all. Doomed them and doomed everyone else.

Freefall seemed to pick up on her emotion because he stoped and nudged her gently with his soft scaly nose. His big green eyes starring into hers. He seemed to be saying, ‘its not your fault, we can still fix this mess.’ And to show his enthusiasm he leapt into the air, spread his broad wings and spun loops and circles. All Firii could do was hold on. She laughed at the playful Bluens antics. At least he still thought they could do it.

Freefall made everyone else feel suddenly happy. Not a surprise, when Bluens can change anybody’s current emotion to the same as their own. They like all other creatures of Maerlan have unique abilities. Different to the animals of Earth.

Maerlan is a mirror world of earth, only mirror in the looks of made things. The plants and wildlife of Maerlan are VERY different to those of earth.

The party moved much faster and happier after this. All five of the Bluens had a spring in their step. They preferred not to fly because it requires more effort, plus flying brings you closer to the sun, and none of them wanted to do that. Their riders were the same, Happily chatting about where they could go next. They already had two of the elements they had to collect. They had Earth from the mountain Grenlyn, which was home to Thoraz, king of the Bemoblins. And they had Fire from the gap. Two of the five elements. Together all the elements would create the legendary substance Hope. Hope is only a feeling to many, but it is also a Substance that can be made and used, for good or bad. And Firii needed Hope to help keep Maerlan alive. To stop the world disappearing.

“We still must get Water from the lake of Truth, Air from the skies, and Sand from the Forbidden beach.” Said Shira. “Well I vote we go to the Lake of Truth” Sighed Kit “I’m tired of heat and sand, I want a nice cool forest, I want to walk on fresh green grass again”. Twikuh the Bluen he was riding nodded her agreement. The Bluen were not suited to sand and heat, they more commonly dwelled in forests and other places with trees and water.

Firii smiled at them all, “I guess it would be okay to go to the Lake. It will give us a destination, and we know there are markets there, we can restock.” Greesmud, Shira’s Bluen, squealed in delight at the prospect of water, he being the youngest found the rough travelling hard. Shira patted him as he bounced around, murmuring, “S’ok Gree, we will get there soon, but don’t forget we can’t stay there forever.” Even the possibility of having to leave the wonderful place they were heading couldn’t dampen Greesmud’s spirits.
North they headed, able to see tiny lumps in the distance that were actually mountains up close. All unaware of the predator that stalked them. Hira.
