You're Simple Kirsten McManus
I came to him with open arms
Asking for the love,
protection from harm
He said "Of course,
Some day, we'll see."
I got tired of waiting,
Didn't want to be
The girl who got played
Or made fun of today.
Couldn't wait for him to say
"I can't."
"Can't believe he left me, girl
My eyes don't sparkle,
I've lost my curl."
"You don't seem to walk
Without touching the ground
Like you used to."
I gave up my fight,
My smile was light
My heart floated somewhere away
But now it's returned
and I have a yearn
For the boy who thinks this of me:
"When you walk, you barely touch
The ground, it just seems to move
Out of your way.
You keep it simple,
I like it that way."
I always walk
Without touching the ground
Like I used to.
