She grew up on a steady diet of horror novels (she read “Dracula” at the tender age of 8) and horror films (she saw “Let’s Scare Jessica to Death” one afternoon after school and that traumatic event has stayed with her ever since) but never for a moment imagined she would one day work in the horror genre. Then in March of 2005, she rented the film “Dead Birds”, directed by Alex Turner and written by Simon Barrett, and something “clicked”. She contacted Turner and proceded to interview Turner and Barrett but THEN had to find a website to send it to. Loving the name “Bloody-Disgusting”, she approached editor-in-chief, Brad Miska, who posted part of the interview (the other part was posted on MoviesOnline.ca as Elaine wasn’t familiar enough with the on-line genre sites and wanted to get the film the maximum exposure). After writing for several smaller sites, Elaine finally threw in with Bloody-Disgusting and was the chief interviewer from late 2005/early 2006 until 2008. In that time, she interviewed everyone from Eli Roth and Rob Zombie to George Romero, Alexandre Aja, Park Chan-Wook, Uwe Boll, Tobe Hooper, Michael Rooker, Neil Marshall, Bill Moseley and newcomers like Paul Solet, Fabrice Du Welz, Scott Glosserman, Nathan Baesel, Adam Wingard and Adam Green (her “resume” is over 15 pages long!). After a hiatus to deal with family issues as well as make a brief move to Dallas, Texas, Elaine returned to the horror genre and started contributing to Dread Central, Fatally-Yours and HorrorReanimated in early 2009. She is more likely to be found reviewing horror fiction and non-fiction now than interviewing horror actors/directors/etc. but, being a biblioholic, she is just fine with that. She has interviewed such horror literary luminaries as Jack Ketchum, Edward Lee, Tim Curran, Scott Nicholson, Kealan Patrick Burke, John Connolly, Mick Garris and will soon be interviewing Chuck Palahniuk, David Morrell, Cherie Priest, Robert McCammon (fingers crossed), Sarah Langan and many more. Her dream inteview would, of course, be Stephen King (so if anyone out there knows how I could make that happen…). Elaine has also contributed to Rue-Morgue magazine and would like to do more writing for periodicals. Not that all of the free books, DVDs, posters, CDs, etc. aren’t awesome!! *** Liz Adams After more than twelve years as a successful entrepreneur, providing sales and marketing services to the computing resources and nanotechnology industries, Adams negotiated the sale of her business in order to follow her passion into the world of filmmaking. Since completing film school at Los Angeles City College in 2006, Adams has written and directed several short films for festival exhibition. Adams’ latest project Side Effect is a short horror film made during her participation in the American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women. At the tender age of four, Lark attended a gruesome ballet rendition of "Romeo and Juliet." When it was time for the star-crossed lovers to die, gigantic red streamers burst out of their chests and exploded hundreds of feet into the air. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever witnessed and was her very first association with blood and the act of death. From that moment, she has been obsessed with the horror genre, not only in film, but in theater, dance, and photography. She has been doing performances since she was 13 years old, with music and ballet. However, on 1 November 2009, it will officially be one year since she started acting. So far, she has been a teenage assassin, a dancer, the crazy nosy neighbor, a cheerleader, a Bikini Monster and a Doll-Squad member. She earned the title of Video Vixen after appearing in various music videos, performed in a female pop singing group, and began bikini modeling. She traveled all across the country hosting events, was a ring girl for MMA and Rage in the Cage, and a featured model in various magazines and online publications. During her childhood her parents owned a successful model kit company, Lunar Models, through which she first developed an interest in fantasy, science fiction and horror. Her thirst for film making was also fueled by her father’s video camera, with which Bianca would create and star in her own no-budget amateur movies. This led to an interest in cinema, which prompted the wannabe director to enroll in college but, after realizing that her true passion was in front of the camera, dropped out of film school and moved to Los Angeles. After various modeling opportunities came along, Bianca started her first website, ‘The Perils of Rock and Roll Decadence,’ which quickly gathered a cult following, along with her second site, ‘Bianca’s Boudoir,’ which demonstrated her love with the 1920’s. Her first acting work came from several collaborations with Silent Ghost Cinema, which resulted in various bizarre short films with fellow struggling actress Ophidia Blackwood, including ‘The Broken Doll Meets Sad Sue’ and ‘The Devil is Always Good for a Drink.’ This led to appearances in various music videos, most notably The Rocketz’s raunchy promo ‘Killing,’ in which Bianca would be credited as a ‘Vampy Burlesque Girl. Bianca’s transition into feature films came from a meeting with independent filmmaker and fellow Texas native, Ramzi Abed, who cast her in the small but crucial role of a corpse in his Black Dahlia feature ‘The Devil’s Muse’. This film not only changed her professional life, but was a pivotal point in her personal life and put her off her path of personal self-destruction. It was during the making of this movie that the young actress would meet FX artist Jason Barnett , who would not only become her partner but also collaborator on various projects, most notably ‘Albino Farm,’ a creature feature that saw Bianca portray the main antagonist, Pig Bitch. The role required extensive use of prosthetics, something that Bianca had grown accustomed to from her previous work in horror films. She would once again team up with Abed for another movie, ‘In a Spiral State’ portraying the drug addled model, Marlena, as well as a small role in Kevin Carraway’s ‘Fear Chamber’. Bianca and Jason Barnett would once again collaborate on the short film ‘Bunny Time Cupcakes’ for Chiller TV’s ‘Dare 2 Direct 2′ competition, which saw the actress in the dual roles of the curious Lulu and the evil Demon. Bianca has several projects in the works, including two full length films directed by Bobby Blood (of metal band, MERAUDER); an action feature in which she plays the lead heroine; an indie comedy playing the title character; and a shocking horror picture directed by J.L. She has an incredible range playing anything from High School to a Heroes super hero. *** Teri McMinn For those of you who remember the first time you saw "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", you will without a doubt recall the defining scene in the film. The scene that literally scared you out of your seat and has remained burned into the psyche of all who've watched the film; poor, sweet "Pam", played by Teri McMinn, placed screaming and writhing on the meat hook by "Leatherface". Teri's role as "Pam" garnered her place in cinematic history. That single, powerful performance made her a film icon. She is known and beloved around the world, even after years of living in obscurity. Now, to the delight of her many fans, Teri McMinn is back! Greeted by hundreds of her devoted fans, she made her return début at Monster Mania Horror Con in 2008. Teri couldn't be more excited, and neither can her fans! *** Michelle Tomlinson The winner of the 2007 Shriekfest Film Festival’s “Pretty/Scary One to Watch” award, Michelle Tomlinson is receiving rave reviews in three separate feature films currently captivating audiences throughout the film festival circuit. Tomlinson earned the Pretty/Scary Award for her work in The Cellar Door, a horror and psychological thriller that is earning its own recognition for improving upon the girl-trapped-by-a-serial killer storyline. The award is sponsored by the online magazine Pretty/Scary: For and By Women in Horror which called Tomlinson’s performance, “groundbreaking.” The online magazine Scream TV said, “Ms. Tomlinson is fascinating to watch in this role … (her) strong performance as (the heroine) Rudy is one of the most exciting in recent memory.” Tomlinson also stars in the Kevin Tenney (Witchboard) directed, humorous, high-concept horror film Brain Dead. Brain Dead recently was honored with the "Best B-Movie" award at the ShockerFest Film Festival, and has picked up nominations and awards for visual effects, makeup, screenplay, and best horror feature at a number of other film festivals. It’s now hitting the Theatrical Release circuit. Tomlinson’s acting abilities span far beyond just the horror genre. She also currently stars in the Independent drama Indelible that was recently named the winner of the 2007 Gold Eddy Cri Film Festival. Indelible also received six nominations at the Wild Rose Independent Film Festival. Tomlinson just wrapped shooting two Pilots that are getting top-notch attention. In The Seer, she’s a Series Regular playing a Detective and in the upcoming Backfire, she’s the Series Lead as the hard-ass gun-toting Nicole Dubois. She recently shot a role on Worst Week for Director Michael Lehmann. Watch for her to start exploding in the world of Television! In her approach to her craft, Tomlinson exhibits the kind of discipline and creativity one might expect from the child of a Marine and an Artist. While festivals feature the work of scores of actors, rarely does a performer enjoy three feature films circulating the festivals at the same time and two Pilots.
