Love it, as a matter of fact. But with me, there is a difference; I tend to ask them questions that will reveal their inner beautyas well. Let's face it; sure, I - as a hopelessly single, middle-aged man - can appreciate the outer beauty. It's the first thing the average male of the species notices upon meeting someone of the opposite sex. It's a natural thing. No harm done. But what a lot of men don't seem to realize is, that underneath all of that outer beauty can lie a beautiful personality as well. A big heart, too. The term ''Scream Queen,'' has been deemed by some critics as one describing one's own wretchedness; a term that is demeaning, meant as an insult. Or, a curse. Then again, some of these { so-called } critics have admittedly never even seena horror film, let alone met actresses they seem so intent on stereotyping. To me, the term ''Scream Queen'' is one of endearment; a label of love, one worthy of praise and respect. I mean, stop and think for a moment { I know it's hard for some of you guys, but give it a try} and really think about what a lot of these ladies go through to entertain us. You want to see a real story in live-action format? Just follow one of these ladies around for awhile, see what they have to do - and willingly and lovingly do - just to supply us with cinematic entertainment. Jeez...it would make A Nightmare On Elm Street like Pee Wee's Big Adventure comparison. These ladies get down, dirty, bloody, slimy, beat up, knocked down, and literally bounced around like a human basketball in order to entertain us. I, myself? I believe they deserve all of the love, respect, and fan devotion they can get. I have recently spoken with an aspiring actress who'd had her pretty little face smacked with a prop on the set { an accident } while filming a fight sequence, and ended up with stitches in her mouth and missing one of her teeth. Her reaction? '' It's all just part of the job.'' Dedication, man. Pure and simple. A person would have to have a big heart and a wonderful outlook on life in general, to go through this just for the sake of their career, and to entertain us. So, I'd keep that in mind next time some self-centered, simple-minded, gender-bashing airhead with a the IQ of a housefly sitting next to you at the movie theatre shouts out ''Look at that stupid bimbo! She'd do ANYTHING for money!'' They'd better hope they aren't sitting next to me, because they might just find out what true horror all about. And, let us not forget the female journalists, fiction writers, and celebrity interviewers, who also supply us with so much entertainment in the form of the written word. Without them doing so much legwork, a lot of great articles wouldn't have appeared in such noted publications as Shannon Lark's Chainsaw Mafia, Heidi Martinuzzi's Pretty Scary, and Elaine Lamkin's contributions to Dread Central,just to name a few. I have also been lucky enough to have been acting as co-producer on a film documentary version of this book, working along side my friend and film editor Nicole Kruex, who has been a real inspiration, as well as professional, patient, and, of course, a real sweetheart. Yeah...I'd say I am a pretty lucky guy... In closing, I'd like to say that as usual, it was an extreme pleasure to put another collection of interviews with these ladies out there for the masses, and although it was a long, hard road getting here, to me, it was worth every minute of it. So...let us give the ladies featured here a big round of applause - as well as some big hugs and smooches { I wish! } for taking the time from their hectic schedules to take part in this project, for without their invaluable input, none of this would have been possible.
